South Africa

South Africa hosts the bulk of the tournament, including both semi-finals and the final.

Cape Town – Newlands

Set beneath Table Mountain, Newlands is often described as one of the most beautiful grounds in the world. It stages the opening main-event match between India and Australia, the hosts’ first game against New Zealand under lights, three Super 7 matches and the first semi-final. Cape Town is also a destination in its own right, so expect strong demand for accommodation. Newlands venue guide.

Johannesburg – Wanderers

The steep-sided Wanderers, nicknamed “the Bullring”, generates a famously loud atmosphere. It hosts India v Pakistan, two other group matches, two Super 7 games and the final. Sandton and Rosebank are popular bases. Wanderers venue guide.

Centurion – SuperSport Park

Between Johannesburg and Pretoria, SuperSport Park has grassy banks and a relaxed feel. Its five matches include Afghanistan v India and the second semi-final. It pairs naturally with a stay in Gauteng. SuperSport Park venue guide.

Durban – Kingsmead

Durban’s warm, humid coastal climate and large South Asian-heritage community make Kingsmead a lively venue. It has six matches, including four in the Super 7, which makes it a good bet for high-stakes cricket later in the tournament. Kingsmead venue guide.

Gqeberha – St George’s Park

One of the oldest Test grounds in the world, St George’s Park is known for its brass band and festive crowd. South Africa v England on 16 October is the standout group fixture, followed by three Super 7 matches. St George’s Park venue guide.

Bloemfontein – Mangaung Oval

In the heart of the country, Bloemfontein is a practical stop for fans travelling between regions. Mangaung Oval stages five matches, including Pakistan’s and India’s group games against Qualifier A, plus three Super 7 fixtures. Mangaung Oval venue guide.

Paarl – Boland Park

Surrounded by the Cape Winelands, Boland Park is within easy reach of Cape Town. Its four matches include Australia v Pakistan and a Super 7 meeting of the two group winners. Boland Park venue guide.

KuGompo City – Buffalo Park

Buffalo Park is in the city formerly known as East London, on the Eastern Cape coast. It has four matches, including Afghanistan v Australia. Buffalo Park venue guide.

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe co-hosted in 2003 and returns with three venues.

Harare – Harare Sports Club

An intimate ground in the capital, Harare Sports Club hosts four group matches, including two for the home side against Australia and Pakistan. Harare Sports Club venue guide.

Bulawayo – Queens Sports Club

Zimbabwe’s second city stages two home group matches, against Qualifier A and Afghanistan. With only two fixtures, tickets here may be among the scarcer for Zimbabwe supporters. Queens Sports Club venue guide.

Victoria Falls – Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium

The newest venue on the list, built near one of the world’s great natural wonders. It was reported to be nearing completion in October 2026. Zimbabwe v India on 24 October is its headline match, followed by three Super 7 games. Combining cricket with a visit to the Falls is one of the tournament’s unique opportunities; see our visa guide if you are thinking of crossing into Zambia. Victoria Falls venue guide.

Namibia

Windhoek – Namibia Cricket Ground

Namibia’s capital opens the whole tournament with the three-match Super Series on 2, 4 and 6 October, then hosts three Group B matches, including England v Bangladesh and England v Sri Lanka. Namibia Cricket Ground venue guide.

Planning tips by region

Natural clusters

  • Gauteng: Wanderers and SuperSport Park are close enough to cover from a single base.
  • Western Cape: Newlands and Boland Park are a short drive apart.
  • Eastern Cape coast: St George’s Park and Buffalo Park are in the same province, though still some distance apart by road.
  • Zimbabwe: Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls are spread out, so check domestic flight options.

Long distances

South Africa is large. Cape Town to Johannesburg and Johannesburg to Durban are typically covered by domestic flights rather than road for short trips. Allow travel days between matches in different regions.

Crossing borders

Matches in Zimbabwe and Namibia mean separate entry rules. Read our visa guide before you commit.

Weather

October and November bring warm weather across the region. Inland venues such as Johannesburg, Centurion and Bloemfontein can see afternoon thunderstorms, while Durban is humid and Cape Town can be windy.
